Walking Sticks and Canes
Hand carved and signed "one of a kind" wood walking Sticks and Canes by Northwest Artist Daniel Trythall.
The walking sticks and canes are carved from a section of a natural Aspen branch 53" to 57" long and about 1-1/4" in diameter at the handle (Canes 33" to 36"). Both the stick and cane are fairly light (1 to 1-1/2 lbs.) and are sufficiently strong as an adjunct for walking or trail hiking. The canes will support considerable weight and I would guess are as strong or stronger than most of the "manufactured" ones. None of these are tested in any way as to their actual strength or durability.
They are carved on two sides of the shaft for about 24" to 36" in fairly deep relief. The background is stippled with a burning pen or texturing bure and surface details are further enhanced with pyrography (wood burning). The stick is finished with multiple coats of satin hi-performance polyurethane with UV protection (this stuff is used to finish floors and is relatively water resistant.
These unique sticks and canes take 50 to 70 hours to complete and are truly functional art.
The base prices are $200 for a cane and $300 for a stick. The brass handle cane sold for $200 and the rose stick for $400. Should you be interested in ordering please contact me at 425 373-6120 or dtrythall@earthlink.net (lead time is currently about 2-months).
